Choosing a bookkeeper or accountant for your small business is a huge decision! This person can have a huge impact on your success and will have intimate knowledge of your finances.
Below are the tips for how to choose a bookkeeper or accountant that will be a good fit for you.
Experience And Expertise
Experience counts! We have years of experience in accounting and bookkeeping and have helped small businesses ranging in size from start up to $5 million in annual sales. We’re QuickBooks certified.
There’s nothing worse than not being able to get ahold of your bookkeeper or accountant, and an alarming number of them are hard to reach January 1 through April 15 (which is tax season) and even, sometimes, throughout the summer. We’re here for you Monday through Friday, from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. (Denver time), and we respond quickly to e-mails and phone calls.
Being able to ask questions, get straight answers, and understand what’s going on financially in your business should factor into your decision about hiring a bookkeeper or accountant. We take pride in understanding the many facets of your business and drawing your attention to the small details that can make a big difference.
What accounting and bookkeeping services do you need, and how often do you need them? We’ll tailor a package to your needs and budget, and we’ll grow with you. If you bring on an employee to help with your bookkeeping, we’ll be happy to work with that person, and we also offer QuickBooks training.
Which accounting software program are you using, if any? The bookkeeper or accountant should be familiar with your software. We can work with just about any type of accounting software, including QuickBooks.
Fees And Packages
Cost may play into your decision about hiring a bookkeeper or accountant. Bookkeepers charge lower hourly rates than accountants, but don’t have the same level of education, experience, or tax knowledge. Your work will always be done by a CPA and/or supervised by a CPA, but for less complex tasks, you’ll be charged lower rates, competitive with bookkeeper rates in the Denver metro area.
